HD videos on YouTube

I've started to upload some high definition video footage of the Derby peregrines on YouTube.

The one that got away!!

This series of pictures show the tircel bringing a live pigeon back to the cathedral. As he is much smaller than the female he some times struggles to gain altitude with larger prey as was the case during this event.
He flew around the tower twice, continually calling for the falcon to assist. She was in the scrape feeding the chicks "kinda busy". Eventually he lost grip of the pigeon which dived for cover in the old police station adjacent to the cathedral green.

You can see in the final pictures the peregrine is grasping onto the primary feathers just before the pigeon breaks free. This was one lucky pigeon that quickly went to ground and lived to see another day. Both adult peregrines carried out a search in an attempt to locate and recapture the pigeon all be it to no avail.

Just to give an indication of the time this took to unfold, I took 85 pictures over of 1 minute.

The progress of Cathy (No10) - Video No2

Another week has gone. Colin has made excellent progress with Cathy. You can still see her twisted wing in the video but the fact that she is flying is more than anyone expected, especially after seeing the damage shown in the x-ray image.
X-ray image can be seen at 'Colins blog'. See the link on the left.

She is seen feeding in the video, gore rating of 7 out of 10. Do not watch if you are squeamish.

Videoscoping Derby Peregrines.

The following video was recorded during June of 2009. The start of the video shows the Falcon feeding three young birds. This is followed by some close-up footage of the Falcon whilst she was resting on one of the gargoyles at the top of the cathedral tower.

Tircel takes a Jay.

This picture was taken on the 6th April 08. This was my first ever Jay. Never seen one before other than in books, does this count?
